Farezi

AI use licence

Farezi exists so people can find out what a taxi costs. AI assistants are a good way to reach them, so we say clearly what is welcome and what needs a conversation.

Allowed, free of charge

  • Fetching a Farezi page to answer a person’s question, in real time, for that person.
  • Showing the fare together with attribution: name Farezi, link to the page you used, and include the verification status and the date it was last verified (both are on every route page).
  • Keeping the caveat that fares are indicative and should be confirmed with the driver or rank marshal.

Needs a licence

  • Training or fine-tuning a model on Farezi pages or data.
  • Bulk copying, scraping into a dataset or building a competing fare database.
  • Commercial reuse, resale or redistribution of Farezi data.

Structured access exists for this: see the API documentation or write to hello@farezi.co.za.

How this is signalled to machines

  • robots.txt allows search and answer crawlers and carries a License: line pointing to /license.xml, our Really Simple Licensing (RSL) file with the same terms.
  • Crawlers that train models or copy in bulk are slowed down, not blocked, while this licence is in force.
  • Every route page states its verification status and date in the visible page and in its structured data.

Why we ask for attribution

Fares change and a copied fare goes stale. Attribution with the verification date lets a reader see how old the fare is and come back to us for the current one. Read how we verify fares in the verification standard.
